About Our Group

E-mail Print PDF

We are the Hampstead and District Group of the Ramblers' Association. We are one of nine groups within the Inner London Area and, as our name suggests, most of our members live in the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington, although some come from other parts of London and surrounding counties. We are a friendly group of people who come from all walks of life and who share a love of walking.

Descending from Bridgewater Monument towards Albury

We have a comprehensive programme of walks which cover most of Southeast England and all of which are accessible by public transport. They range in length from less than 4 to over 20 miles and in pace from easy to fast. We aim to have at least one walk each weekend but our programme also includes daytime or evening weekday walks.

Our walks can be found on the Walks Finder by clicking here

For a printable programme from the Walks Finder click here.

Please note that a few of our Group's walks may not be on the Walks Finder. For details of these walks, leaders' telephone numbers or other contact details, and holidays organised by the Group, please refer to the Group's programme which is sent out to members and associate members.

We organise weekends away and longer holidays and last year we had a long weekend at the HF Holidays house in Dovedale from the 15th to 18th March, a five night holiday in Nerja on the Andalucian coast of Spain from the 11th to 16th May, a five night holiday at Windermere in the Lake District from the 27th June to the 2nd July and a four night New Year break in Oxford from the 28th December 2013 to the 1st January 2014. The next holiday will be a three night stay at the HF holidays centre at Lulworth Cove from the 11th to 14th April 2014.

Photographs taken on Hampstead Ramblers walks can be viewed on the Web Album. To see them click here.

The majority of the photographs currently displayed on the Web Album were taken by Jane Rosoux, our Walks Organiser, and many of the Group's walks are not represented. Your contributions would be much appreciated in order to make the Web Album more varied and comprehensive.  If you have any photographs which you would like to be added to it - or comments or suggestions - please go to "Contacts" and leave a message.
