Most of their members live in the City of Westminster or the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Their walks vary in length from 4 to 18 miles, but the majority are 8 to 14 miles.

North London Rambling Club The North London Rambling Club was founded in 1919. They walk on Saturdays and sometimes midweek and their walks generally range in length from 6 to 15 miles and take place throughout London and the surrounding counties.

Morley College rambling club The Morley College rambling club, which was founded in the 1880s, is attached to the Morley College in London but is open to all. Their walks are predominantly on Saturdays, are generally 9 to 10 miles in length with lunch at a country pub and they meet at a main London station between 9.00 and 9.45 am.

Forest Ramblers' Club The Forest Ramblers' Club was founded in 1884 to give active support to the City of London Corporation in their endeavours to conserve Epping Forest and it is the oldest walking club in the UK which is still in existance. Its walks, which take place on Thursdays and are generally 6.5 to 7 miles at a leisurely to moderate pace and include a convivial lunch, take place throughout London and surrounding counties.

Polytechnic Rambling Club The Polytechnic Rambling club, which was founded in 1885 and is one of the oldest walking clubs in the UK, is attached to the University of Westminster but is open to all. Their walks take place throughout London and the surrounding counties and are generally between 5 and 12 miles in length with lunch taken at a country pub.

Youth Hostels Association The Hampstead and District Group subscribes to the Group Membership category of the YHA, which enables parties of 5 or more of our members travelling together to avoid paying the temporary membership rate each time they stay at one of the more than 200 Youth Hostels, bunkhouses and camping barns across England and Wales, saving up to £3 per person per night. It also entitles parties of 9 or more travelling together to stay at more than 4,000 Youth Hostels in around 80 countries worldwide.

Chiltern Society The Hampstead and District Group supports the Chiltern Society, which aims to maintain the uniqueness of the 650 square miles of the Chilterns in the face of growing pressures on this part of the country. The Chilterns, which is a popular location for our Group's walks, covers a 650 square mile area across parts of Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, and Bedfordshire, and almost exactly half of this area forms the unspoilt Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Much of the remainder is protected by Green Belt status.

Living Streets The Hampstead and District Group supports Living Streets (formerly the Pedestrians Association), which is the national charity which stands up for pedestrians. It works to create safe, attractive and enjoyable streets where people want to walk. In the past it has campaigned to introduce the driving test and successfully got the first zebra crossings installed.
